As if we needed another reason to eat chocolate….

If you read through data from studies every week, every so often you run across something so fun that you just have to write home about it! Here’s to the research team in Sweden who conducted a study of over 30,000 women in Sweden to find out if chocolate had measurable health benefits. Over the course of 9 years, researchers found that women who consumed chocolate (especially the extra dark kind) twice a week reduced their risk of heart failure by over 30%.  Wow. I don’t know many women who would have a hard time sticking to that prescription!  One serving is about 2-3 squares of chocolate, and, to reduce the amount of sugar consumption that can go along with it, opt for the extra dark varieties, or brands that are sweetened without cane sugar (such as my favorite local company Lulu’s).
